Floor Maintenance
Protect the Floor - Place tracking mats at exterior doors, in front
of sinks, refrigerators and in all heavy traffic areas. Be aware that
some rubber-backed rugs, foam-backed rugs, and non-slip pads contain additives
that may discolor the floor. Place felt pads or floor glides on chairs
and other furniture to prevent scratching. Never wax the base of chair
legs.
Dust Mop Regularly - Vacuum with a bristle head vacuum or dust
mop with a dust mop treatment. The dust mop treatment will pick up dirt
and dust without leaving any chemical residue. For heavy traffic areas,
vacuuming or dust mopping several times during the day is recommended.
Clean Regularly - Precision Floor Cleaner(Mop Kit) removes dust,
dirt, oils, cosmetics, hair, and dust mop treatments. Do not use ammonia
based cleaning products. Never wax the floor.
Dampen Mop with Precision Floor Cleaner. Never spray any product directly
on the floor. Mop approximately 65 sq ft at a time. Mop in a back and
forth motion. When the mop is dirty, change out the mop cloth with a clean
one.
Heal marks, stubborn spots, etc., can be removed by spraying Precision
Floor Cleaner on a clean cloth and wiping vigorously over the spotted
areas.
Restaurants and other floors prone to greasy buildup may need more aggressive
cleaning with Basic Coatings Intensive Floor Treatment. Dilute one part
IFT to four parts water. Clean the floor in the same manner as described
above.
Periodic Recoating - The life of the finish will depend upon the
type of traffic in your location. Under heavy traffic, recoating may be
required as often as every six months. Recoat the floor when the original
film is showing signs of wear.
The life of the finish will depend upon the type of traffic in your location.
Humidity
- Humidity changes may cause wood floors to expand or contract. Maintaining
humidity levels of 40%-50% will minimize this movement.
Sunlight
- When wood flooring is exposed to ultra violet light it will change color.
Some woods are affected more than others. Consider this in regards to
area rug placement.
Wood and water do not mix!
